Welcome to the most wonderful time of the year! If you joined me yesterday you’ll know that this year I’m working to make many of the gifts and cards we’re giving.
I started my 12 Days of Giftmas with some simple cookie cutter printed cards. I hinted that on two of the cards I added something a little special and I can now tell you it was a little gift with a tree-shaped soap!
How cute do they look?
Due to the width of them, they’ll just be for friends we’re seeing in person, or I think the cost of postage would be huge!
I’ve used melt and pour soap before to create some fun gifts and decided to use my new Christmas themed silicone mould to add some festive cheer. I found mine in Poundland but I’m sure many shops have them, or there’s this one on Amazon (there are others which are cheaper but may not arrive in time for Christmas!).
The process of making melt and pour soap is super simple. Simply slice how much soap you will need, pop it in a heatproof jug and follow the instructions, normally about 30seconds on a high setting, making sure you stir frequently. Once it’s fully melted, add any mica powder or essential oils you want and give them a good stir before pouring into your moulds. It sets quickly but if it sets, pop it back into the microwave for a few seconds until it melts again.
Whilst this is a simple craft, I’m always very conscious when using melt and pour soap around the Lamb as it does get very hot and I’ve managed to scald my hand more than once.
The photos don’t do the colour of these adorable little soaps justice. The gold mica catches the light and is perfect for Christmas. I used a small mould so these look like little sweets. As you saw above, they look very cute when added to a card, but they can easily be included in a hamper of other homemade gifts to add a bit of bling.
Have you tried melt and pour soap? Are you going to make some beauty bits for Christmas gifts?
Hope you liked Day two of 12 Days of Giftmas. Don’t forget to pop back tomorrow for more gift ideas. And while you’re here, why not pop over to my shop? Loads of lovingly made crafts, ready for you to gift.
